**Unplugged** the last of DC Star’s Trilogy is released!

Updated: Nov 23, 2022

NEWS November 24th 2022

Following UNFINISHED BUSINESS and “Memories and Fantasy” comes the final release in

the DC Star UB Trilogy - **Unplugged**. The album consists of 11 raw song demos with Kenny Taylor singing and David Simmons playing acoustic guitar. The songs were all written by David Simmons and Ray “Goliath” McCrory.

Those of you who have been following the Trilogy release might think that this collection of demos, naked and flawed, might have been just a freebie or an afterthought. But rather these tracks were the deal breaker in David Simmons’ decision to do the 2022 DC Star releases at all.

The guitar is banged out and choppy in places. And unfortunately, a couple songs even have tiny defects in their source tapes that weren’t able to be corrected ... but those songs were far too good to have been excluded from the final cut. The real attraction to fans isn’t the sloppy guitar work or the skill and speed with which these songs were being written and recorded …

The magic is in the voice of Kenny Taylor. Unlike the showman’s voice fans have heard shrieking above the din of thousands of watts of power amps; on these demos Kenny sounds like he is sitting next to you as he delivers some of the best performances of his life.

These tracks were captured in Dave’s tiny apartment in Baltimore from 1980-83 by Kenny’s brother and former band sound man David Taylor. Originally recorded on a 4-track TEAC 8” Reel-to-Reel tape machine using only one microphone, the bare songs are spontaneous and the seeds in the genesis to the final songs that some of them became.

We hope you like **Unplugged** along with the other releases in the DC Star Trilogy!

There are still hundreds of cassette tapes of ideas and writing sessions in Ray’s suitcases and even after these new albums Dave still has a few old cassettes left to peruse as well.

So, never say never!
